Course Description (Aims and Objectives)

 

  • This course is aimed at colleagues who wish to incorporate dental implant restoration in their daily practice. Suitable for General Dental Practitioners, including recent graduates.

  • The aim is to provide evidence-based information and hands-on training in the optimization of treatment planning, restoration selection, communication with the lab, implementation and maintenance of implant supported restorations.

  • Case support will be provided by BSID faculty after the course for the duration of one year, with an unlimited number of cases.

  • Teaching is over two days to ensure better understanding and increased confidence for candidates.


Subject matter:

 

Day 1:

 

  • Patient-centered case planning and discussion in simple and complex restorative cases.

  • Decision-making in relation to implant dentistry. Restore vs Extract

  • Analogue vs Digital Case Preparation

  • Communication with the laboratory and abutment selection

  • Impression-making in single, multiple and full arch cases

  • Comparison of different implant systems

  • Live patient demonstration

 

Day 2:

 

  • Types of implant-supported restoration single tooth, multiple tooth, full arch, fixed, removable and fixed-removable

  • Occlusion for dental implants – single tooth, fixed bridges, removable appliances

  • Natural Dentition vs Implant Supported Occlusion

  • Fitting implant restorations

  • Maintenance of dental implants and troubleshooting

Please note that this course is suitable as a standalone course for those wishing to implement implant planning and restoration in their practices and to pave the way for further implant training.
